valerie_objects presents a light object designed by the young Belgian designer-architect Pierric De Coster. De Coster carries the heritage of the minimalists deep in his heart. Every design object is stylized to the absolute very limit. This is also the case for this L1 floor lamp, of which the shape consists of nothing more than two slender tubes. One cylinder sheds light on the other; which in turn reflects the light again. The result: a vertical sculpture with a zephyr glow floating in the middle. L1 measures 187 centimeters, the exact length of its maker, and is assembled out of aluminium, a material one can manipulate down to the millimeter. De Coster’s goal is to create a tension within space with an absolute minimum of means. With this floor lamp he might have reached his height. This is a true minimalistic totem.
